Significant Something – MAR/APR.15 WRAP-UP

Again I am a tad late, well a whole month late which rather than complain about each month I have decided to make this a bi-monthly project. It certainly is not for lack of ideas or things I want to try it is simply that I am busy, very busy.

So here is March’s significant something project, doodling. I had a tonne of fun with this and hope I can get some time to explore this a little more. The background didn’t turn out exactly as I had planned so will definitely be playing around with that next time but the doodling on a canvas – yay!

Discovered my copic multi-liners are superbly suited to this task and am still playing with the brush – like version of these but not yet happy with the results.

So hopefully…enjoy!

Oh, because I am fast running out of storage this little number is for sale in my etsy store for the hot little price of $30 plus postage. There are a few other works there too at the moment if you want to see more of the doodling storm I am whipping up here of late.

HOORAY!

Sometimes a little doodle becomes a biggish thing. One of our doodle Tuesday  illustrations is currently featured in the latest issue of Hooray magazine.

Do you know Hooray? It’s a fab magazine that features all the ins and outs of events including styling, recipes and insights into actual events. The current issue definitely has an Easter flavour and for me that means four days to catch up with friends, enjoy huge feasts that last a long time and relax.

Enjoy!

Well hello doodle Tuesday

In case you haven’t picked up, I doodle a lot. Sketch doodle. Stitch doodle. Paint doodle. You get the idea.

Pages in journals are filled just about everyday. Some are used for design projects. Some are made into gift cards or postcards. My kids use some for their projects. But mostly these just sit in the journals.

Not anymore, starting today each Tuesday I will share with you a favourite doodle. Some may have a story, most won’t but hopefully you enjoy!

Grandmas book

My husband comes from a large family. A family that embraces new members and has such a high essence of fun that it would put any circus to shame. The entire family gets together for reunions … reunions that are so much fun that no-one ever wants them to end.

A few years ago at a reunion we learnt that the head of the family – Grandma – had put pen to paper and written her life story. And quite literally I mean pen to paper. There were several exercise books filled plus some travel diaries, notes on cards and photographs. It was decided that a few of us would piece together everything and present it to the family as a keepsake.

Written by the most extraordinary women most of us know about the thing she held most dear – family. It has become a keepsake of the stories, places, people, travelling, antics, history and above all family.

I will probably never work or be given the honour to create a project like this again. So I cherished every stage, every piece of the puzzle, every story, photograph and giggle. And I thank Grandma … oh so much. Enjoy!
